Turracher Höhe ski area
The Turracher Höhe, snow-sure and forty minutes' drive
The Turracher Höhe is high: the ski area goes up to 2,020 metres, has full snow-making, and the season runs to mid-April. From Feld am See it is 32.6 kilometres, about forty minutes. That is not a neighbouring area, it is a day out, and that is exactly why it is here: anyone who wants to sleep on the plateau itself finds mostly hotels there. An apartment on the Brennsee, forty minutes lower, is the other sum.
The ski area
43 kilometres of piste around the Turracher See, 15 lifts, up to 2,020 metres and 100 per cent snow-making. The altitude makes it the most snow-sure area around; the season runs from November to mid-April. For more play there is the Fun Mountain with a Funcross, a Kidsslope, a Snow & Funpark and an XXL Funslope.
Nocky Flitzer
The Turracher Höhe's alpine coaster runs in winter too. For families it is the rest day: a few runs in the morning, the Flitzer in the afternoon, and back to the lake for dinner.
Prices
The 2026/27 rates have not been published yet; in 2025/26 a day pass was € 68.50 and six days in high season € 363, children aged 6 to 14 € 182. The Turracher Höhe is part of the Kärntner Skipass. As soon as the new prices are out, they will be on our ski pass page.
Why from Feld am See
Forty minutes is, honestly, the limit of what you drive every day. That is why, from our house, the Turracher Höhe is the mountain for one or two days in a week, alongside Bad Kleinkirchheim at a quarter of an hour and the Gerlitzen at twenty minutes. If you want to ski only the Turrach for a whole week, you are better off sleeping on the plateau.
Cross-country and winter walking
The plateau has trails and cleared winter footpaths around the lake. Closer to home are the Römerloipe (8 km) and the Sportloipe (2.5 km, partly floodlit) at Bad Kleinkirchheim, and 60 kilometres of cleared winter footpaths around Feld am See.
