Privacy policy
The protection of your personal data matters to us. We process data only in line with the legal requirements (EU Regulation No. 679/2016, the GDPR). Below you can read exactly who processes your data, what for, on what legal basis, for how long, and what you can do about it.
Who processes your data

We have not appointed a data protection officer; a business of our size is not required to. Your questions therefore come straight to us, which is how we want it.
What we process, what for, and for how long
For each purpose, the table below sets out which data we use, on what legal basis, and how long we keep it.

Who we pass data on to
We use a small number of service providers that process data on our behalf. There are no others.

- If you book through Booking or Airbnb, we receive your data from them. What those platforms do with your data themselves is set out in their own privacy statements, not in ours.
- The guest registration goes to the municipality, because the law requires it.
- We do not sell data, and we do not pass it on for other people's advertising.
Outside the European Union
Our service providers process your data within the European Union. Where a provider is based in the United States, we have chosen the European environment and there is a data processing agreement behind it.
The map on the contact page is the only exception, and it loads only if you click it yourself. If you do, your IP address goes to Google and Google's terms apply from that moment.
Cookies, or rather the lack of them
We measure visits with PostHog on European servers, in cookieless mode: we set no tracking cookies and store no recognisable profile in your browser. We show no third-party advertising.
What we do keep in your browser is a couple of small preferences: that you have dismissed the language suggestion or a notice. They sit in your own browser's storage, never reach our server, and say nothing about who you are. Clear your browser data and they are gone.
That is also why we do not ask you to click away a cookie banner. It is not an oversight but a choice: if you set nothing, you have nothing to ask about. The map on the contact page is the one part that does load something from outside, which is why it sits behind a click.
Do you have to give us this data?
Not for an enquiry. But without a name, an email address and your dates we cannot send you an answer with a price.
For a stay, yes. The law prescribes the data for the guest registration; without it we are not allowed to let you stay the night.
What you can do about your data
You have the following rights. Write to info@berghausseeblick.com and we will take care of it; we do not need a form for that.
- Access: ask what data we hold about you.
- Rectification: have anything that is wrong corrected.
- Erasure: have deleted whatever we are not legally required to keep.
- Restriction: have the processing paused while something is being sorted out.
- Portability: receive your data in a common file format.
- Objection: object to processing based on our legitimate interest.
- Withdrawing consent: whatever you gave us by consent, you can take back at any time. What we did before that remains lawful.
If you think we are getting it wrong
Tell us first; we usually sort it out the same week. If you get no further with us, you can complain to the Austrian supervisory authority: Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, dsb@dsb.gv.at, www.dsb.gv.at.
You can also go to the supervisory authority in the country where you live or work; they will pass your complaint on.
No automated decisions
We take no decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and we build no profiles. Whoever reads your enquiry is a person.
