The Brennsee, a few minutes' walk away

Swimming, paddleboarding, sailing and surfing in Feld am See, Carinthia

The lake this house is named after is quite literally round the corner: 1.3 kilometres long and 500 metres wide, up to 26.3 metres deep, and water of drinking-water quality. It gets up to 25 °C in summer. Motorboats are not allowed, so what you hear is mostly wind and water.

Swimming

On the north shore, along the Seestraße, access to the water is free, with showers and toilets. The water is clear and warms up well in summer. The Afritzer See is in the same municipality; together they make up about 100 hectares of water between them.

Paddleboarding and kayaking

On a lake of 1.3 kilometres long and 500 metres wide with no motorboats, paddling is a pleasure, especially early in the morning when the water is like a mirror. Sportschule Krainer on the Seestraße handles hire and lessons in sailing, surfing, wingfoiling, SUP and kayaking.

Sailing, surfing and wingfoiling

The Brennsee has warm thermal summer winds, pleasant for beginners and for wingfoilers: easy to learn on and interesting enough for anyone who already foils. People sail keelboats, dinghies, catamarans and Optimists here, and there are lessons for beginners.

Fishing

the Brennsee and the Afritzer See together make up about 100 hectares of fishing water with pike, zander, catfish, carp, perch and trout; day tickets start at € 30, on top of which comes the statutory Fischerkarte. You pick up your tickets at Kärnten Fisch in the village; for families there is also a fishing pond.

As our guest you get the Sonnenschein Card from us. With it, watersports instruction on the Brennsee is free, as are the guided ranger tours and the cycling programme. If you have never stood on a surfboard or sat in a sailing boat, that is the nudge you need.
